At Wrockstock, we take the mornings and afternoons off from the musical programming and take advantage of the outdoor activities and a lot more fun stuff that’s available to us. There are several kinds of activities you can choose from during Wrockstock 2008.
Craft Alley
Craft Alley has been moved to the screen porch of the Room of Wrockquirement, and will no longer be held in the North Hall.Stop in and make yourself a few of our easy craft projects to make and take home as souvenirs or gifts. All crafts are designed for all ages and are guaranteed to be wizardly and magical in nature. There will be Crafty Witches on hand to assist you, but Craft Alley is not a babysitting service. Children under 10 will need to have a grown-up with them.
Admission to Craft Alley is included with your Wrockstock Pass.
The Wampum Willow
Visit the giant teepee on the hill to be in the audience for our open mike opportunity for those who have a Wizard Rock band, but are not one of our featured performers this year. The Willow is open from 12pm-5pm Friday, 9am-2pm Saturday and 9am-2pm Sunday
Those interested in playing may sign up for either ½ hour or one hour of time with our Activities Witches at wrockstockactivities08@gmail.com (Times are first come first served)
Admission to The Wampum Willow is included with your Wrockstock Pass.
The Second Annual Wrockstock Quidditchstravaganza
Team up with friends or find teammates once you arrive at the Pitch. We play by Trout Lodge’s rules, which are posted on our forums here:http://www.stlouisareawizards.com/wrock/forum/index.php?topic=152.0
We will be running a tournament of elimination… last team standing wins a cool prize.
Quidditch starts at 9am Saturday morning. Everyone wishing to play at any time during the weekend must be there to arrange teams and set up the tournament. Our Quidditch Coordinators will be there to assist with team formation, act as referees and basically try to keep everyone from clobbering each other.
Quidditch will be played on Saturday from 9am to 12pm, and then again on Sunday from 9am-11am, a break for lunch, then the Quidditch final matches from 1pm-3pm.
Your team will probably only have to play a maximum of four ½ hour games over the course of the weekend… so don’t worry, we are not trying to kill people.
We ask that kids under 7 sit this one out, as we fear they might get smooshed… in fact, everyone should know that Quidditch at Wrockstock has a bit more physical contact than most other rules systems…it’s kind of like a cross between basketball and dodgeball, played on a soccer field.
Participation in Quidditch is included with your Wrockstock Pass.
The First Annual Wrockstock Film Festival.
We will be taking over the movie room on the first floor of the main building at Trout Lodge to screen films made by or featuring Wrockstockers past and present. So far we are planning to show the Wrockstock Spooktacular DVD, hopefully the Wizard Schlockumentary will be complete by then, too.
Those attendees wanting to show a film they have made are welcome to do so, as long as the content is at least PG 13 or below and you, the filmmaker will be in attendence. Please email our Activities Witches at wrockstockactivities08@gmail.com describing your film, including running time. It needn’t be about wizard rock, either, just made by those in the Wrockstock community, fans and bands alike.
Films will be shown from 2pm-8pm on Friday and 9am-2pm on Saturday. Depending on submission, we may or may not repeat some films.
Admission to Film Festival is included with your Wrockstock Pass.
